Larks & Magic – Alison Neil Meet the extraordinary woman behind some of the best-loved children's books of all time. E. Nesbit is the author of much-loved classics including The Railway Children, The Wouldbegoods, Five Children and It and The Story of the Treasure Seekers. But behind these unforgettable stories was a fascinating and unconventional woman whose own life was every bit as extraordinary. Charming, badly behaved and always ready for a lark, Nesbit worked hard to keep her unconventional family afloat while becoming part of the bohemian set in London. A founder of the Fabian Society and friend of figures including George Bernard Shaw and Noel Coward, her life was filled with unexpected twists, fascinating friendships and remarkable stories. Written and performed by Alison Neil, Larks & Magic is a fast-moving and entertaining one-woman performance bringing E. Nesbit vividly to life and exploring the woman behind the books. Each performance will be followed by a Q&A with Alison Neil, offering audiences the opportunity to find out more about E. Nesbit, the performance and Alison's research into this remarkable woman.
